This week I took a seat in the background while I witnessed loved ones help a family member plan a funeral. Whenever I hear about someone passing away, I am instantly reminded to live! While I know life is a precious gift and time is not a commodity….I find myself, more often than I would like to admit, in a negative headspace. This sometimes hinders my ability to revel in the gift of life and focus on creating the life I know I truly deserve. I wrote this month’s blog post to be a helpmate for myself and others in improving our ability to become more of a positive thinker and a better manager of our time in this journey. I believe our lives benefit from the profound impact positive thinking plays in creating a purposeful and fulfilling life. Taking some time to reflect on the fragility of life, the importance of time, and how intentional thoughts shape our reality can open our minds. Through the use of some self-coaching questions and affirmations I have shared here and use personally, I hope you are empowered to overcome what I like to call “stinking thinking” and focus intently on positive thinking to witness how this serves as a tool in unlocking your true potential and helping you live your best life reminded that time can never be recovered - so don’t waste it!
But before you read further I have a few questions….Do you believe life is a fragile and precious gift? Do you acknowledge the fleeting nature of time? No matter how you answered those questions, did you also know it is within our hands to shape the life you desire by being intentional and conscious about your thoughts? By recognizing the impact of negative thinking, intentionally adopting a more positive mindset, and maintaining awareness that time is not promised, we are equipping ourselves with an ability to overcome self-sabotage and instead, live fully.
I encourage you to carve out a few minutes from your day, today and everyday, to explore the transformative power of positive thinking. Here I offer you an opportunity to embrace the limitless possibilities that await you in a few quick and simple questions to ask yourself. Come back and revisit these or write them and / or the affirmations down somewhere so you can check in with yourself on a more regular cadence.
1. Embracing the Fragility of Life:
Life is a beautiful and fragile gift. It is a constant reminder that time is limited and every moment is precious. Reflect on the brevity of life and consider the importance of making the most of the time we have. What actions can you take today to align your life with your deepest desires, dreams and purpose?
Affirmation: "I embrace the fragility of life and make every moment count."
2. The Power of Positive Thinking:
Our thoughts shape our reality. Negative thinking can be a formidable barrier to our success and happiness. How often do you catch yourself dwelling on negative thoughts? How can you consciously shift your mindset towards positivity and optimism? Ask yourself, how does this negative thought serve me?
Affirmation: "I choose to focus on positive thoughts and embrace the abundance that life has to offer."
3. Recognizing Self-Sabotage:
Self-sabotage can be disguised as negative thinking, limiting beliefs, or fear of failure. In what areas of your life do you tend to self-sabotage yourself with negative thoughts? How can you break free from this cycle and replace self-doubt with self-empowerment and self-confidence?
Affirmation: "I release self-sabotaging thoughts and step into my full potential."
4. Cultivating Self-Awareness:
Self-awareness is key to uncovering our negative thinking patterns. Take a moment to observe your thoughts without judgment. How do your thoughts impact your emotions and actions? How can you become more aware of negative thoughts and consciously replace them with positive ones?
Affirmation: "I cultivate self-awareness, observing my thoughts and choosing positive ones that align with my goals and dreams."
5. Nurturing a Positive Mindset:
A positive mindset is a powerful catalyst for personal growth. How can you create a daily practice of gratitude, affirmations, and positive self-talk? How can you surround yourself with uplifting influences that support your journey?
Affirmation: "I nourish my mind with positivity, gratitude, and empowering beliefs."
In the face of life's fragility, we hold the power to shape our destiny, we have the key - it is positive thinking and time awareness. Use these to harness confidence, courage, and gratitude in shaping your reality. You deserve nothing but the best and your best starts with you!
